According to Estyn's website, the last inspection of Blaenau Gwent's education services took place in 2015, at which point the education services were taken out of special measures. Prior to that, the inspection of 2011 had put the local authority's education services into special measures, and the 2013 report found that improvements were unsatisfactory and recommended the authority remain in the follow-up category of requiring special measures. There have been no inspections or monitoring visits since 2015 according to the Estyn website.
